The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was home to Round Seven of the GRAND-Am Rolex Sports Car Series as John and the SpeedSource team traveled to the historic track.  Saturday’s Emco Gears Classic at Mid-Ohio was was a great showing by the SpeedSource team as John and the team captured a second place finish.

Adam Christodoulou, the 2009 Star Mazda Series Champion and John's current teammate, qualified the #68 Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development Mazda RX-8 third on the starting grid. As the green flag waved, Christodoulou followed the GT Class leaders and drove his #68 Mazda RX-8 away from the field. When Christodoulou pitted after his 1.5 hour opening stint in the scorching heat,  John took the car to the GT lead in the race’s final 30 minutes. John fought with the #94 car for the lead until he gave way to DP traffic and was hit by the #94 and surrendered the lead with about 20 minutes to go.  He did not have the horsepower or the tires to make up the gap and finished a solid second, with a remarkable SpeedSource team performance. 

“That was one of the most intense races I’ve driven,” recalled John. “The heat outside and the competition on track made it very tough, but the SpeedSource guys gave us a great car and made some good calls to put us in contention at the end.”
